If you live in Massachusetts and have worked in Rhode Island within the past 3 years, you may be eligible for a tax refund from MA of $400.00 to $700.00. The state of Massachuseets has issued a new directive allowing amounts paid to the Rhode Island TDI (sometimes referred to as SDI which is Temporary Disability Insurance) to offset Massachuseets income tax going back to 2008 through 2011. The tax return for the year(s) in question will need to be amended. If this affects you for the 2008 tax year, you will need to act before 4/15/2012.
