MA DOR Identity Quiz for Taxpayers

MA DOR might send an Identity Verification Letter to you. Notice #50520 requests a visit to the website, www.mass.gov/dor/quiz. A simple online quiz asks four questions based on shared information from other state agencies. Such as, What car did you drive in 2009? In what town did you live in 2008?

The taxpayer will be assigned a refund ID and will be given a 1-800-771-7144 MA DOR phone number to call if there are concerns.

DOR is focused on protecting taxpayer identity and on eliminating refund fraud. Taxpayers most likely pulled for the Identity quiz are first time filers. Not taking the quiz or other failure to comply denies the refund and alerts an investigation unit to the possibility of criminal activity. For more information visit the MA DOR Fraud Program website
